Summit County Executive Russ Pry has passed away according to a press release from Akron Mayor Daniel Horrigan.
Akron’s Mayor said Pry was one of the city’s “greatest champions.”
“I’ve lost a great friend much too early. We will all miss his leadership and his ability to bring people together,” Horrigan said.
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the 58-year-old Pry died just weeks after being diagnosed with colon cancer during a routine screening.
“Russ had an uncanny knack for empathizing and identifying with all people, regardless of their age, race, gender, orientation or creed, making him well-loved by all. Personally, I will miss his friendship, his quick wit and his invaluable advice,” Horrigan said.
