SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — The Summit County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who allegedly impersonated a police officer.

On Monday at 11 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle on I-271 southbound for speeding.

Delonte Smith, 34, had active warrants through the Kent Police Department, Broadview Heights Police Department, and the Maple Heights Police Departments.

Deputies said while they were taking him into custody, they discovered that he was wearing a holster and a pair of handcuffs on his belt. They also found a "Peace Officer" badge and a loaded gun in his vehicle.

A female passenger in his vehicle told deputies Smith said he was a Twinsburg police officer.

Smith has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and impersonating a police officer.
