Two boys were arrested after they were caught burglarizing homes in the city on the same day.
On Thursday around 12:12 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary in process on Cottage Grove Road.
When they arrived, a deputy found a door forced open in the back of the residence. A 16-year-old suspect was located a short time later. He admitted to taking cash from the home. During the interview with detectives, he bit one of the detectives several times.
The 16-year-old, from Green, was arrested and charged with burglary and assault on a peace officer. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility.
On the same day around 2 p.m., the sheriff's office responded to another burglary in progress on Koons Road. Two older women reported a white man kicked open the side door of their residence. He was confronted by the residents and he fled on foot.
Officers located him quickly. He was identified as a 15-year-old boy from Green. He was arrested and charged with burglary.
Police said the investigation linked the 15-year-old to four other daytime burglaries in Green in which cash, jewelry, and electronics were taken from the homes. He was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility as well.
It was determined, police said, that the two boys were acquaintances and had prior arrests for burglary.
The investigation is ongoing.
