CLEVELAND — News 5’s own Danita Harris was honored with an award at the 19th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Gala Friday evening.
Each year, members of the Greater Cleveland community are selected by the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for their dedication to service in various professional arenas that assist in elevating their community.
Harris was selected to receive the 2020 Media Personality of the Year Award.
In addition to her work here at News 5, Harris has been actively working with the community, especially with her organization S.H.I.N.E., a spiritually based organization that helps women achieve their goals.
Last year, Harris expanded the S.H.I.N.E. program with “S.H.I.N.E. Girlz,” which empowers and teaches girls life skills in a supportive group setting.
Harris received the 2020 Media Personality of the Year Award at the gala, which was held at The Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church Friday evening.
