Missing Newburgh Heights teen found safe in North Carolina, U.S. Marshals arrest man she was with

NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 15-year-old Newburgh Heights girl who was reported missing earlier this week was found safe in North Carolina. The 19-year-old man she was with was arrested by U.S. Marshals.

The girl was found at about 10:45 a.m. in Mount Holly, North Carolina, according to a news release from Newburgh Heights police.

Jalen Williams is being held on felony charges of interference with custody, the release states. Newburgh Heights police will be seeking extradition back to Ohio where he may face additional charges.

The teen girl is being held in the custody of the Gaston County Children Services until her return to Ohio can be arranged, the release states.

Newburgh Heights police thanked the following agencies for their roles in recovering the juvenile: The United States Marshal’s Service, the Cuyahoga Emergency Communications System (CECOMS) and the Chagrin Valley Dispatch Center.

“We also share our thanks to the Cleveland Family Center for Missing Children and Adults for the victim’s assistance provided,” police stated.
