Newly crowned Miss Teen USA, Karlie Hay, will keep her title after apologizing for her racist tweets that date back to 2013, ABC reported. The tweets in question show Hay using the N-word and other offensive language.
Hay went on Good Morning America to apologize for the tweets that were exposed just a few hours after she was crowned in Las Vegas.
ABC reported Sunday that The Miss Universe Organization, the parent company of Miss Teen USA, said in a statement that though the language Hay used was "unacceptable at any age and in no way reflects the values of The Miss Universe Organization," she will keep her crown.
The pageant also faced controversy this year after the top five contestants were all white and blonde, causing some to say there was a lack of diversity.
