COLUMBUS, Ohio — An adult film actor who said she had an affair with President Donald Trump several years ago has now filed a civil lawsuit against vice squad police officers whom she believes arrested her in an Ohio strip club for political reasons.

Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was arrested July 11, 2018 at a Columbus, Ohio strip club. The civil lawsuit says the film star believes the police officers were pro-Trump, and that led to the arrest, which police say was on suspicion of sexually touching a patron on stage.

Daniels' lawyer is Michael Avenatti, who represented her in a civil lawsuit against Trump that was aimed at breaking a nondisclosure agreement between the two. Trump and his administration deny an affair that Daniels said happened in 2006 and is the reason for that nondisclosure agreement.

Daniels recently sued Trump in a defamation lawsuit, which a federal judge dismissed in October 2018.
