Giant Eagle recalling products made with romaine lettuce as precaution after E.coli outbreak

Posted

In response to a recall notice made by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention on romaine lettuce, Giant Eagle, Inc. is recalling multiple prepared food items made with the produce.

On Friday the CDC announced chopped romaine lettuce grown in the Yuma, Arizona area is to blame for 35 cases of E. coli illness in 11 states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania.

According to a press release from Giant Eagle Inc., the company is removing the below lists of products sold in its Giant Eagle, Market District and GetGo locations across western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.

The press release states that the company is making the recall purely as a precaution and that no reports of the E. coli illness have been linked to their products.
