Ten charges have been filed in against Kyle Johnson, who was already in jail in Pennsylvania following police reports that he allegedly beat an Erie woman then hid an Ohio woman he had abducted in the Erie homeowner's basement.
When 58-year-old Kum Miller of Erie died just before noon Saturday, the charges went up to include first degree murder.
According to Erie County Prison officials, the charges against Johnson, 25, of Warrensville Heights, are as follows:
Criminal homicide
Murder in the first degree
Cruelty to animals
Terroristic threats (3 counts)
Burglary (2 counts)
Possessing criminal instruments
Simple assault
Aggravated assault
Reckless endangerment
Criminal attempt
Initially, authorities said 58-year-old Kum Miller of Pennsylvania had been critically injured after Johnson allegedly broke into her home in Erie, Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Police documents said he used a crowbar to beat Miller.
Authorities had been searching for 23-year-old Brandi Shakir, the Ohio woman that Johnson allegedly abducted after she went missing on Monday.
"She's doing much better, but we need to continue to pray for her," her mother, Monica Shakir, said.
Authorities report that Miller's autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
