WSJ: Tesla has no plans to disable autopilot feature in its cars

Posted

Tesla Motors Inc. Chief Executive Elon Musk has no plans to disable the company's autopilot function after a crash in May of a Model S electric car using the technology, according to the Wall Street Journal.

WSJ said Tesla plans to redouble efforts to educate customers on how the system works instead.

The first U.S. fatality using self-driving technology took place in May when the driver of a Tesla S sports car operating the vehicle's "Autopilot" automated driving system died after a collision with a truck in Florida, federal officials said.
