K-9 Achilles is a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix from Hungary while K-9 Bak is a purebred Shepherd from Czechoslovakia, police said.

The two K-9 officers are dual purpose dogs and will work both narcotics and patrol. The K-9s are trained in narcotics detection, suspect apprehension, tracking, article searches and building and area searching, according to police.
