A New York man was killed while standing on the side of the Ohio turnpike on Saturday morning.
Hanad Mohamed, a 31-year-old from Buffalo, New York, hit a deer on the highway and was standing near his disabled vehicle when he was fatally hit by a semitrailer, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol reports. Mohamed was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semitrailer veered off the highway and into the median after hitting Mohamed. The driver the of the semitrailer and his passenger were not injured in the accident.
Officials say alcohol isn't considered to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
