COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Taxation will follow the federal government and the IRS by extending the deadline to file and pay Ohio individual and school income taxes to May 17.
The extension is approximately one month from the original deadline of April 15.
Ohio Tax Commissioner Jeff McClain said the extension is intended to provide relief to individuals impacted by the coronavirus.
Like the IRS extension, Ohio will waive the penalty on tax due payments made during the extensions. There will also be no interest charges on payments made during the extension.
