Posted

Ohio University sent out a health alert Tuesday, warning parents and families that a student had been diagnosed with viral meningitis.

Administrators said that the student is receiving medical care and that there is no reason for students to be alarmed.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms of viral meningitis include fever, irritability, poor eating, sleepiness and lethargy.

Students with concern or symptoms are asked to see a health provider.
