BROOKFIELD, Ohio — A pug near Youngstown is recovery after being kicked in the face.

The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project said that someone entered a house on Friday and "savagely punt kicked" the pug in the face.

The pug's lower jaw was broken.

The rescue has taken ownership of the dog, now named Mr. Wrinkles. The pug had to have emergency surgery.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Wrinkles had the front portion of his lower jaw removed, as well as several teeth.

The rescue's owner, Jason Cooke, said that Mr Wrinkles has eaten and drank after the surgery and is doing well.

Once Mr. Wrinkles is well enough, he will be able to go to a foster home.

Cooke said that a lot of people have reached out about fostering him.

"A lot of people are interested in helping Mr. Wrinkles but he can only go to one home. There are a ton of dogs in shelters that need homes this holiday season, so if you can't get Mr. Wrinkles, consider helping another dog out," Cooke said.

The rescue said they have raised $3,000 for a reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for doing this to Mr. Wrinkles.
