Leonard has a strong will and a high "ball drive" and the director of the Union County Humane Society thought he might be a perfect fit for law enforcement.
Chief Terry Mitchell of the Clay Township Police Department agreed, according to 13abc in Toledo.
"He's a single purpose dog and his purpose is just finding narcotics," Chief Mitchell told 13abc.
And Leonard is a unique police dog. He's the first pit bull K9 in the state.
