PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a wrong-way crash that caused serious injuries to two men on state Route 2 in Portage Township Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:35 p.m., a 26-year-old man driving a 2012 Ford F-150 was heading west on SR-2 when a 68-year-old man driving a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox struck his vehicle head-on, troopers said.

The man driving the Chevy was headed east in the westbound lanes for unknown reasons, according to troopers.

Both men were transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital by helicopter with serious injuries, troopers said.

The westbound lanes of SR 2 were closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated and the crash was cleared, according to troopers.

Neither alcohol or drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.
