Right now, it's estimated that 12 percent of the homeless population in the country are veterans, which is why there is an effort underway to help them find permanent housing.
Senator Sherrod Brown proposed the Veteran Housing Stability Act. It encourages landlords to rent to veterans and expand the definition of homeless veteran to help more people.
The bill also would support continued research and evaluation into the effectiveness of veteran affairs programs.
