Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Medina County

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Medina County.

The crash happened before 2 p.m. at the intersection of Abbeyville and Spieth roads.

A 71-year-old man was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox eastbound on Spieth Road.

A 63-year-old man was driving a 2011 Ford F350 pickup truck northbound on Abbeyville Road.

The driver of the Equinox failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by the truck, according to a press release.

A passenger in the Equinox, 73-year-old Natalie Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Equinox was transported to Medina General Hospital, then life flighted to Akron General Hospital for serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to Medina General Hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
