Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Channing Frye did not travel with the team to Toronto after his mother died on Thursday night.
Frye's mother, Karen Mulzac-Frye, lost a long battle with cancer before passing, according to a statement by the Cavaliers. Frye has been excused from the team for the games against the Toronto Raptors on Friday and the Orlando Magic at home Saturday night.
The team has expressed their sympathies to Frye and his family. They have not said when he will rejoin the team.
