Cleveland Cavaliers backup forward Chris Andersen is out for the season after tearing his ACL during Friday's practice.
The team issued a statement saying Andersen suffered the non-contact injury while at Cleveland Clinic Courts. He was evaluated at the facility and will undergo surgery on Saturday.
Andersen, known to fans as Birdman, has appeared in 12 games for the Cavs this year and averaged about 2 points and 2 rebounds per game.
For his career, Andersen has averaged a little over 5 points and 5 rebounds per game.
