Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith was cited for reckless operation and excessive speed, according to Bay Village police.
The incident happened overnight on Oct. 12 in Bay Village on Lake Avenue.
According to the police report, Smith was coming out of a construction zone on I-90 westbound, just out of Rocky River, at a high speed.
A family member arrived on scene and was allowed to drive the car away to his nearby home.
Smith was cited for excessive speed and reckless operation. The speed was not listed on the police report or in his citation. He will appear in court on Oct. 25 at 9 a.m.
