Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert had a surprise home delivery Wednesday morning.
His fiancee, Teyana Taylor, posted on Instagram that she delivered Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr. just before 7 a.m. Wednesday in their home's bathroom. The baby girl came a month before her January 16 due date.
Iman Shumpert called 911, she wrote, but the little one only took two ten-count pushes to deliver.
Eyes full of tears and barely able to speak to the emergency operator@imanshumpert tied a pair of red headphones around the umbilical cord and the ambulance made there grand entrance 5 min later.
She opened her eyes right away and never cried, Taylor said.
Shumpert was already set to sit out Thursday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to an injury, but Coach David Blatt said he had more important things to tend to instead, calling him "Dr. Shumpert."
"What he did was pretty amazing, but if anyone had to do it, it had to be Shump right?" added Tristan Thompson.
Teammates shared their excitement before the game, with most saying they had already texted Shumpert their congratulations and were excited to hear the whole story.
"I can't wait to see him and ask him all about it," said Anderson Varejao.
