Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith showed off a pretty good shot Wednesday -- not on the court, but on the practice range at Firestone Country Club.
In the presence of the U.S. Open champion, no less. And yes, Smith was wearing a shirt.
Dustin Johnson, coming off his first major 10 days ago at Oakmont, first met Smith earlier this year at the Bear's Club in south Florida. Johnson says Smith loves golf, hit a few balls on the range at the Bridgestone Invitational. Johnson added, "He can play."
Smith spent more than an hour with Johnson, and former U.S. Open champion Justin Rose also stopped by for a chat.
Johnson is playing this World Golf Championship for the first time since winning his first major at Oakmont. Smith, a free agent, has the summer off.
