The organization and city were very excited about hiring Jackson.

“It’s very exciting for us to name Hue Jackson as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns,” Jimmy Haslam said three years ago. “He embodies all the qualities that will provide strong leadership for our football team. He is highly experienced, deeply passionate about winning, and relentless in trying to find ways to put his players in the best position to succeed. He possesses that unique ability to reach the entire locker room in a way that demands accountability while getting the buy-in and team-first mentality that leads to positive results. I think our players will love playing for him. Dee and I warmly welcome Hue and his family to Cleveland.”

At that point in time, Johnny Manziel was still Cleveland's quarterback. He was cut two months after Jackson was hired.

Flash forward to 2019, the Browns announced on Saturday that they have a new coach after firing Jackson mid season, who went 3-36-1 as head coach.

Freddie Kitchens turned the Browns around after taking over as the offensive coordinator.

"We are thrilled to announce Freddie Kitchens as the new head coach of the Cleveland Browns. He did an outstanding job in his role as coordinator, and we know that will continue as he steps into the role of head coach. Freddie demonstrated all of the qualities that you want in someone who is leading your organization. He has unquestioned leadership. He is a man of integrity. He fosters a collaborative environment. He gets the most out of his players and our players loved playing for him. We are happy to have him leading the Cleveland Browns going forward," owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam said.

Baker Mayfield, who was once compared to Johnny Manziel, is the Browns starting quarterback.

“It was great working with and learning from Freddie last year. He has such a creative mind. He creates mismatches and just put guys in position to take advantage of their opportunities. He puts trusts in us as players. He’s the same guy every day. I’m really excited about 2019 and the future of the Cleveland Browns,” Mayfield said in a press release.

In the last decade, the Cleveland Browns have had five coaches.

The longest tenured coach they have had in the past decade was Jackson.
