Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Alvin Bailey was suspended Thursday for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Bailey, 25, was suspended without pay for the team's next two games, according to a team news release. His suspension will begin immediately.
Bailey will be eligible to return to the Browns’ active roster on Dec. 25 following the team’s game against the San Diego Chargers. The suspension is almost two months after Bailey was charged with operating a vehicle impaired in September.
North Royalton police stopped Bailey in September in the Cleveland Metroparks parking lot. Bailey told police he was returning from a restaurant where he had a few beers and whiskey during his flight from Miami back to Cleveland.
Officers searched his truck and found what they believed to be marijuana. Bailey was later arrested and charged.
