Canal Day
Sunday, September 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Canal Exploration Center
Join rangers and volunteers to celebrate all things canal. Volunteers demonstrate and lead activities from the mid-1800s such as spinning wool, playing children’s games, and cooking dinner. Make a craft, push a lock gate, or enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of life along the canal in 1853.

Join Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland (ASGC) and Cleveland Metroparks for the second annual Chagrin River Bird Quest. Explore the Chagrin River Valley from Lake Erie south to ASGC's bird sanctuaries in Aurora.

Crawford County Parks
Lowe-Volk Nature Center
The Lowe-Volk Nature Center opened in December 2002. The building has an eco-friendly design, and contains a passive solar heat and light system, an above ground leach bed and parallam beams. It currently features 25 exhibits on various topics, including live wildlife. As the "hub" of Park District activities, many school groups utilize the Nature Center and surrounding Lowe-Volk Park for field trips. There are also public environmental education programs and large events hosted here, such as Arrowhead Day (fourth Saturday in February) and Living History Day (first Saturday in June).

Lake Erie Wing Watch

Inspired by the National Parks Quilt Show
September 21 through October 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, Lake Metroparks Farmpark
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016, 148 fiber artists created 177 original art quilts to depict landscapes, flora and fauna of the 59 national parks. This traveling quilt show is on a national two-year tour; don't miss this local two-week stop at Farmpark! Support provided by the Lake County Visitors Bureau Arts & Culture Funding Program. Regular Farmpark admission applies.

Saturday, September 17, Starts at 7 a.m., Buckeye Woods Park, Join us for this inaugural community bike ride presented by Medina County Park District. There are four route options: a casual ride 6.7 mile ride with an optional 6 mile addition that will consist mainly of flat trail riding through Medina County Park District's beautiful Buckeye Woods Park and Chippewa Inlet and two longer route options (32 and 47 miles) for the more experienced rider. The longer routes will be rolling hills road riding. The routes will be posted prior to the event. Rain or shine, we ride! Pre registration can be done on line at http://bikemedinacounty.weebly.com/upcoming events.html or the day of the event at Buckeye Woods Park. Registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. for the longer routes and 8 a.m. for the casual ride. Cash or check only. All ages welcome.
