AKRON, Ohio — Akron Metro RTA resumes bus routes on Aug. 23 as it moves to the Fall Contingency Schedule.

With the reintroduction of Sunday service and revised weekday and Saturday trips, 81% of bus service will be back on the road.

Buses on Route 1 will run every hour, at the top of the hour, going between Restaurant Hill and the Akron Health and Wellness Center.

Metro RTA hopes to continue restoring routes as ridership grows.

Services changed when ridership dropped by half at the start of the pandemic.

It has now returned to 70% capacity.

The agency is also adding plastic barriers to help separate riders and drivers on buses.
