Weather advisory issued, multiple crashes reported

CLEVELAND — While it may be April Fools' Day, mother nature isn't joking around. Not only did April 1 bring snow, a winter weather advisory was issued and white-out conditions wreaked havoc on the highways. Several crashes have been reported in the greater Cleveland area.

Weather advisory issued

3:08 p.m.
An intense lake effect snow band will impact Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain counties until 3:45 p.m.

11:07 a.m.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Cuyahoga County and Summit County until 9 p.m. Thursday.

With Lake Effect snow rolling and wind gusts of up to 30 mph, additional snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches is possible, according to the National Weather Service. More here.

Multiple crashes reported

11:25 a.m.

A large crash on Interstate 77 has shut down north and southbound lanes while crews work to clear the scene, according to the Richfield Police Department. Around 18 to 20 cars were involved in the pile-up crash, police said. More here.

10:42 a.m.

I-90 westbound at Hilliard Boulevard is closed due to a weather-related crash involving at least 10 cars, according to the Rocky River Police Department. No injuries have been reported. More here.
