Police are investigating a single-car crash in Solon in which the vehicle was found ripped into two pieces along the highway.

A driver called Chagrin Valley dispatch around 5:55 a.m. after seeing the crash. When police arrived, a gray Nissan Altima was found ripped into two sections off the roadway.

The front and back of the car were separated and the driver had been ejected from the vehicle. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later identified him as 47-year-old Daniel Tymoc of Cleveland.

The crash happened on US 422 eastbound, between Harper Road and SR 91. The car was found in the woods south of the freeway.

Police say the car was separated into two pieces after making impact with several trees and rolling over several times. The exact cause of the crash is unknown, but there are indications that excessive speed played a significant role in the crash.
