EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 28-year-old East Cleveland resident was killed in a crash Sunday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The driver, identified as Rashawn Campbell, 28, of East Cleveland, was driving a 2019 Kia Sorenta on Hayden Avenue when troopers said he failed to maneuver a curve at Doan Avenue.
The vehicle struck a curb and drove off the right side of the roadway. The Sorento struck a concrete island, sideswiped a pole and then struck a second pole, spun and struck a third pole before coming to a rest near Mayfair Avenue in East Cleveland.
Campbell was transported to the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Troopers said he was not wearing his seat belt.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the East Cleveland Police Department.
The events that led up to the crash remain under investigation.
