3PM: Cleveland mayor, police chief to speak about slain Cleveland detective James Skernivitz

CLEVELAND — Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson will hold a virtual news conference Friday afternoon regarding the shooting death of police detective James Skernivitz, who was killed Thursday night.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams will also be in attendance.

The shooting happened Thursday around 10 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 65th Street near Storer Avenue. Another person, whom police say was not a suspect, was pronounced dead at the scene. That person, who is still unidentified, was a passenger in Skernivitz's car, according to city officials
