AKRON, Ohio — Police are investigating after a 25-year-old man was shot and killed in Akron.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Johnland Avenue in the city's Goodyear Heights neighborhood.

The Summit County Medical Examiner said when officers arrived at the scene, they found Ja’Sown Bivins lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Bivins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Akron police said a preliminary investigation indicates the shots were fired from a vehicle. Officers are checking neighborhood surveillance systems to see if anything was caught on camera.

A vehicle or shooter description hasn't been provided. Police said identifying a suspect is a top priority right now.

"Our detectives are dedicated to doing everything possible. We're going to leave no stone unturned as it relates to investigating this incident, but we need help from the community to remove this dangerous person off of the streets," Lt. Michael Murphy said.

The matter remains under investigation.
