AKRON, Ohio — A 4-year-old boy was hurt when shots were fired into an Akron home around 2:30 Friday morning.

It happened on Biruta Street.

Police said shots were fired into the housing causing minor injuries to the child.

The boy was taken to Akron Children's Hospital.

Through the investigation, police learned that the boy was at the home of a relative when the incident occurred. The police report states the relative reported hearing something that sounded like rocks hitting her house at about 2:30 a.m. A short time later, she checked on the boy and found he had a bullet graze wound to his lower leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officers searched the area and found numerous spent shell casings on the ground.

Detectives do not have any suspects.

Last weekend, 37-year-old Victor Varner was killed after shots were fired into an apartment on Mary Peavy Eagle Court.
