AKRON, Ohio — A teenager was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a 40-year-old man in Akron.

According to Akron police, officers responded to the 300 block of East Voris Street around 6 a.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, police found the 40-year-old who had sustained a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was arrested and has been charged with murder, according to police.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the 17-year-old got into an argument with the older man and shot him. Authorities say the 40-year-old is believed to have been in a relationship with the teen’s mother.
