AKRON, Ohio — One man was killed and another was injured in a shooting Friday night in Akron.

According to the Akron Police Department, the incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. at a store in the 300 block of East South Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old man outside with a gunshot wound. The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates that two men in a Nissan, a 26-year-old and a 38-year-old, drove to the store. The 38-year-old passenger got out of the vehicle and went inside. The 26-year-old man, who was the driver, shot back at the 33-year-old and the two drove off.

The 38-year-old man was dropped off at a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the hand. His injuries aren’t life threatening, police said.

No charges or arrests have been made.

The 33-year-old man’s name has not been released.
