An Akron taxi driver was sprayed in the face with pepper spray and then robbed by two female passengers she picked up early Monday morning.
According to police, a 37-year-old cabbie for Rides-4-Less picked up the two women on the 300 block of Noah Avenue. After traveling about half a mile, one of the passengers sprayed the driver in the face with pepper spray, a police report said. The second female reached over the seat and grabbed the driver's purse. She also tried to take the victim's cell phone but was unsuccessful. Afterward, both women jumped out of the car and ran from the area.
This isn't the first time a driver from Rides-4-Less has been violently robbed.
Last October a 31-year-old driver was robbed by two passengers she picked up. In that case, the driver wasn't attacked with pepper spray but shocked by a stun gun multiple times. The suspects made off with the driver's cash and credit cards.
