AKRON, Ohio — An anonymous person sent a letter to Akron school officials confessing to breaking a school window years ago and included a $50 bill to pay for the damages, according to News 5 media partner at the Akron Beacon Journal.

The district office received the letter on Friday, along with restitution.

"A few years ago I broke a window at a school," the letter said. "I think that I should pay for it. I think this should pay for it."

District spokesperson Mark Williamson said no one has any idea how long ago it happened or at which school building.

Chief of Operations Deb Faulk said in an email that circulated among staff that the money would be added to the district’s restitution fund for when district property is damaged. "There are still good people in our world!" she said.

Anyone with information about the letter can contact Williamson at the district's office at 330-761-2930. Or they can send another letter.
