Canton doctor facing charges for allegedly trying to kill his wife's unborn child

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Jackson Township doctor was arrested at his medical office on Friday for allegedly trying to kill his wife's unborn child.

According to the Jackson Township Police Department, Dr. Yousif Alhallaq was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service on charges of attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies.

Alhallaq is currently being held in the Stark County Jail.

Authorities didn't release any details regarding the alleged attack.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Alhallaq is an independent physician and has an office in Canton but his privileges at Mercy Hospital have been suspended.
