AKRON, Ohio — Breathe Akron drivers. Breathe. More traffic changes are happening to I-76 in Akron.

Construction crews are closing I-76 westbound at Princeton Street down to one lane as emergency pavement repairs are made.

I-76 westbound will be reduced to one lane until Friday, Feb. 8 at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, traffic was already starting to back up on I-76 westbound.

Motorist should expect delays and try to avoid the area. Drivers can take I-76 to I-77 southbound to I-277 westbound to I-76 eastbound/Kenmore Leg to I-77 northbound as an alternate route, ODOT suggests.

The emergency repairs happening on I-76 are separate from the repairs happening on the East Avenue Bridge, reducing I-76 eastbound to one lane, according to ODOT.
