AKRON, Ohio — Authorities are investigating several shootings that happened Wednesday in Akron, including one that occurred at an ice cream stand.

At around 5:08 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of East Avenue for a man shot. When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The man told officers that he was standing in line at the ice cream shop when he was struck by gunfire, authorities said.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Around the same time, another man showed up at a different hospital with a gunshot wound. That man was transported to another hospital for treatment, authorities said. His injury is considered non-life-threatening.

Authorities said they are working to determine if the incidents are connected.

About an hour after the first shooting, officers responded to a shots-fired call near Lane Field. Officers located a man down in the 900 block of Lane Street, authorities said. The man had a gunshot wound to his arm.

According to police, the man wasn’t “very forthcoming” and only said that an unknown person stole his car.

No arrests have been made in connection with any of the shootings.

The incidents remain under investigation.

Anyone with information about any of the shootings is asked to call Akron detectives at 330-375-2490 or Summit County CrimeStoppers at 330-434-COPS.
