Two people shot in separate incidents while sitting inside their cars in Akron Wednesday

AKRON, Ohio — Detectives are investigating two Wednesday incidents where motorists were shot while sitting in their cars in Akron.

The first incident happened around 5 p.m. near Ericsson Avenue and South Arlington Street. Authorities say a 23-year-old man was sitting in his 2001 Oldsmobile Alero when he was shot three times.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The man was unable to give a description of the shooters.

The second incident happened several hours later around 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Princeton Street. According to authorities, officers pulled over a woman driving a 2009 Dodge Journey with missing back window. Officers discovered the window had been shot out and the driver was shot in the arm.

The woman told officers she was in the area of Manchester Road and Kenmore Boulevard when two unknown individuals shot at her car.

After being hit, the woman drove away from the area until she was stopped by police on Princeton Street.
