ASHTABULA, Ohio — The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a homicide suspect Tuesday in Ashtabula who was wanted in Cleveland for allegedly killing a 34-year-old man last month.

According to authorities, Jeramy Eggleton, 46, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 4900 block of Cornell Avenue in Ashtabula. He is being held in Ashtabula County Jail on an aggravated murder charge and is awaiting extradition back to Cuyahoga County.

On Aug. 22, a 41-year-old woman was carjacked and attacked on East 149th Street. Eggleton and "possibly" four others confronted a man which led to an argument and then a shootout, authorities said.

Joseph Owens, 34, was killed as a result of that incident.

“Our team has been diligently searching for Eggleton for the past couple weeks. Investigators developed information recently that lead to the quick and safe arrest in Ashtabula,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot said.
