CLEVELAND — A 33-year-old woman was fatally shot in Cleveland while in the car with her two daughters early Saturday morning, according to police.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on I-77 in the southbound lanes at Harvard Avenue.

When Cleveland officers arrived, members of the Newburgh Heights Police Department were already on scene administering first aid to the woman. Cuyahoga Heights paramedics took the woman, later identified as Breyana Presley, to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The daughters, ages 12 years old and 8 months old, were also taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Neither were harmed, police said.

The alleged shooter, a 34-year-old man, was taken into custody.

According to Cleveland police, it appears Presley and her children were traveling in a car with the man when he shot her.

The man’s name and possible charges have not been released.
