94-year-old man found beaten to death in Cleveland; no arrests have been made

CLEVELAND — Police are investigating after a 94-year-old man was found beaten to death in Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood on Wednesday.

The man has been identified as Charles G. Vonderau, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officers found the man inside a home in the 4100 block of Plymouth Road while conducting a welfare check. Authorities say the man’s family had been unable to reach him.

The man, who had preexisting medical conditions and used a wheelchair, had sustained blunt force injuries to his head and body. He was found down on the ground. His death has been ruled a homicide.

No arrests have been made.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the case to call detectives at 216-623-5464 or Crimestoppers at 216-25-CRIME.
