Blue Angels return to the Cleveland skies for the Cleveland National Air Show

Posted

It's about to get a little loud in Downtown Cleveland as the United States Navy Blue Angels demonstration squad makes its return to the Cleveland National Air Show for the long Labor Day weekend.

It's a homecoming for petty officer Drew Verble, an Akron native.

"I never thought that being a kid I would be back up here and be part of the team," Verble said. "To be able to come back and now other kids are watching it, just to be able to see myself in the crowd is pretty cool."

Verble is in charge of looking over every inch of the FA-18 Hornets before each show, making sure nothing is out of place.

"Day-to-day you think, you really don't think about it much, but you sit back and think and reflect, and you think, 'Wow, this is a pretty cool job,'" Verble said.

Keep an eye on the sky this Labor Day weekend!
