FirstMerit Bank has agreed to buy the naming rights of the Cleveland Convention Center, Cuyahoga County officials announced on Monday.

The deal must first be approved by the Cuyahoga County Council.
The new center would be called the FirstMerit Convention Center of Cleveland and would pay the County $400,000 annually over 20 years.
The Cleveland Convention Center, which opened in 2013, recently played host to the Content Marketing World 2015 Convention.
The Lakeside Avenue staple is also the site of the new $276 million Hilton Convention Center Hotel being built.
The hotel is slated to open June 1, 2016.
FirstMerit Corporation owns 367 banking offices in Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
