Homicide investigation underway after 20-year-old Garfield Heights man fatally shot while walking down street

CLEVELAND — A 20-year-old man was shot while walking down a street in Cleveland, according to the Cleveland Division of Police.

Cleveland police responded at around 8:45 p.m. to Hosmer Avenue on Monday for a male shot.

The victim, identified by the medical examiner’s office as Tyronte K. Peterson, 20, of Garfield Heights, was walking with another male in the 5900 block of Hosmer Avenue when they were approached by three other males.

Police said preliminary information indicates gunfire was exchanged. During that time, Peterson was struck in his neck by a bullet.

He was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Cleveland police said no arrests have been made at this time.
