Police investigating after 29-year-old woman shot, killed in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — Police are investigating after a 29-year-old woman was shot at killed in Cleveland’s Woodland Hills neighborhood Sunday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m., officers were called to the 9600 block of Mt. Auburn Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Once on scene, officers located a 29-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds. They also found a 28-year-old woman with injuries from jumping from a second-floor porch.

Both women were transported to University Hospitals. The 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The 28-year-old woman was treated and released.

Cleveland’s homicide unit was called to the scene. Early investigation indicated the 29-year-old woman’s ex-boyfriend entered the home and shot her. The 28-year-old woman was also in the home and jumped from the second-floor porch to escape, police said.

A 40-year-old man was in the downstairs residence when shots came through the floor and his ceiling, but he was injured, police said.

Police have not made any arrests at this time. The shooting remains under investigation.
