Suspected CLE carjacker indicted for att. murder

A man suspected of several carjackings and being involved in an officer-involved shooting has been indicted on two counts of attempted murder as well as several other charges. 

DeShawn D. Tye, 26, of Cleveland, was arrested and jailed in December by police after being suspected of several carjacking incidents in Cleveland. Tye was shot during one of the incidents when confronted by police.

Tye was arraigned in court Monday and pleaded not guilty. He was given a $250,000 bond.

On Tuesday, Tye was indicted on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of having weapons while under disability, two counts of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, and one count of discharge of firearm on or near prohibited premises. 

His first pre-trial is set for Dec. 17 at 9 a.m. in Cuyahoga County Municipal Court.
